Been a rough year. When it got really bad, I located "it's on" by George Duke (and christian McBride) at the 2010 Java Jazz Festival.

Look it up and tell me what you think....

I am not normally into some jazz, especially if it's way out, but the George Duke Trio is very calming and so well done.

I never heard George Duke play in a trio format, so that was nice.

There was a nice blend of hard driving fusion, straight ahead jazz, Latin-jazz, instrumental and some vocals too. Amazing rhythm section, good use of both keyboard-synth and acoustic piano What's not to love about that?!?

He was definitely a true mater and left such a legacy. Thanks for the reminder that I need to seek out more of his work.

Which albums of George Duke do you recommend most?

My "go to" George Duke album is his last. It has "T" Jam on it. I use it as a break album late in the evening. I'll look up the name.

Met him once at NAMM. Fabulous guy.
